This year’s Fall Classic will end with a club lifting the championship trophy for the first time, giving the World Series a fresh place in the game’s modern history.
The result
There is no final result yet, but the matchup guarantees a new champion. Neither club has previously won a World Series title, so one franchise will leave the series with its first championship.
A place among recent Fall Classics
The stakes give this series a different kind of weight from the start. A first title can reshape how a franchise is remembered, from its players and manager to the fans who have waited through previous postseason runs without a championship finish.
Once the final out is recorded, this Fall Classic will take its place in the conversation about the strongest World Series matchups of the century—not simply because of the baseball on the field, but because one club will be celebrating a breakthrough that has never happened before.
