This policy describes how BTCLod (“we”, “the site”) handles information when you read football news on btclod.com. It is written for this newsroom, not copied from a generic pack. It is not legal advice. If the way we run the site changes, we will update this page and the date at the bottom.
BTCLod is an editorial site. We publish match reports, transfer notes, and other sports stories. We do not run a shop, a membership paywall, or a public comments board. There is no account for ordinary readers.
Who we are
BTCLod is a football-first publication at btclod.com. Editorial mail: [email protected]. We have not listed a registered company name or postal address here because those details are not set for this site. Privacy requests still go to the editorial address above.
What we collect
Pages you visit. Like most sites, the server may keep technical logs for a short time: IP address, browser type, the page requested, and the time of the request. We use this to keep the site up, to find broken URLs, and to stop abuse. We do not use server logs to build a profile of you as a fan of a particular club.
Staff accounts. Only people who write or edit BTCLod have WordPress logins. Those accounts store a name, email, and password hash. Application passwords, if used by the desk, stay inside the newsroom. Readers cannot register.
Comments. Public comments are switched off. We do not collect comment names, emails, or comment text, because there is no comment form.
Messages you send us. If you email the desk, we receive whatever you put in that email. We keep it long enough to answer and to follow a correction. We do not add you to a marketing list, because we do not run one.
Search. If you use the search box, that query is processed to return stories. We do not sell search terms.
Cookies and similar tools
WordPress may set cookies that are needed for the site to work: for example a cookie that keeps an editor logged in, or a cookie that remembers a preference in the admin. If you never log in, you should see few, if any, of those.
Yoast SEO runs on the site to help with titles, sitemaps, and sharing tags. It does not require you to create an account. We may later add a cache plugin; that would store copies of pages to make the site faster, not a dossier on you.
We do not currently drop advertising cookies or a third-party analytics suite that follows you around the web. If that changes, this policy will say so before those tools go live.
Embedded players and social posts (a YouTube clip, an X post, an Instagram embed) are third-party services. If we paste one into a story, that provider may set its own cookies under its own rules. If you do not want that, do not play the embed; the article text will still be there.
How we use information
- To publish and display football news
- To keep the site secure and online
- To answer a tip, a correction, or a privacy request
- To comply with a lawful demand if one arrives
We do not sell personal data. We do not trade email lists. We do not use your reading history to price a bet or to target a gambling ad. BTCLod does not run betting tips.
How long we keep it
Server logs are rotated as part of ordinary hosting. Emails about a story are kept as long as the correction or the query is live, then deleted or archived with the rest of the desk mail. Staff account data lasts as long as that person has a login. Published articles stay up until we unpublish them; they are journalism, not your personal file.
Who we share with
Hosting, domain, and email providers see what any host sees: traffic to the server and mail that you send us. We do not hand reader lists to clubs, sponsors, or data brokers. We may disclose information if the law requires it.
Your choices
You can refuse non-essential cookies in your browser. You can write to [email protected] to ask what we hold about you from an email you sent, or to ask us to delete that correspondence. Say which address you used and, if you can, the date. We will not ask you for a copy of your passport to delete a one-line tip about a left-back.
If you are in a region with extra privacy rights (access, deletion, restriction, portability, objection), send the same address. We will handle the request in line with those rights as they apply to a small editorial site.
Children
BTCLod writes about professional sport. It is not aimed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from children. If a parent thinks a child has sent us personal information, write to the editorial address and we will remove it.
Changes
When we add analytics, a newsletter, or a comments stack, this page will change first. The date below is the last time the desk signed off the text.
