Seville’s green-and-white evening at La Cartuja ended with Real Betis taking a narrow but valuable 1-0 victory over Getafe, closing Matchday 6 and the first midweek round of the LaLiga campaign. It was a result settled before half-time, when Abde Ezzalzouli struck after a lengthy VAR check, while Álvaro Fidalgo’s involvement for Getafe amounted to only two minutes.
The occasion began with a club-wide gesture under the “From grandparents to grandchildren” theme. Betis brought together some of their longest-serving supporters and younger members of the fanbase as the teams entered the field, giving the temporary home in La Cartuja its familiar green tide before the football began.
Betis carried that energy into the match. Anthony tested David Soria early with an ambitious effort from around the halfway line, and although the Getafe goalkeeper dealt with it, the home side had established control. Getafe attempted to play more directly in response, but their forward movement opened spaces for Betis, who created further opportunities only to be denied by Soria and the visiting defence.
The decisive moment arrived late in the first half. Troy Parrot brought the ball down with his body and supplied Abde Ezzalzouli, who finished the move. The goal was examined for a possible handball, but the referee ruled that there had been no unnatural movement and allowed it to stand.
There was little change after the interval. Betis searched for a second through Isco, Anthony and Parrot, but their attempts lacked the precision required to beat Soria again. Getafe’s back line, featuring Zaid Romero, Djené and Gudelj, held firm and kept the margin at one goal.
Getafe’s hopes of finding a late response diminished further when Mario Martín Rielves was sent off after collecting a second yellow card. Fidalgo was introduced in the first minute of stoppage time in place of the Brazilian Anthony, but his brief appearance could not alter an evening that belonged to Betis and their supporters in Seville.
