The international break has brought another concern to Bournemouth, with Alex Scott leaving the England camp injured and facing a potentially significant spell on the sidelines. The 23-year-old midfielder will miss England’s Nations League match against the Czech Republic at Wembley on Tuesday.
Scott and Arsenal defender Ezri Konsa have both returned to their clubs for further medical assessment after picking up injuries during the England gathering.
Quick facts
- Alex Scott and Ezri Konsa have withdrawn from the England squad through injury.
- England play the Czech Republic at Wembley on Tuesday in the Nations League.
- Scott is believed to have suffered a thigh problem and could be out for around two months.
- Bournemouth are already without Eli Junior Kroupi at the start of the season.
- Both Scott and Konsa started England’s 7-0 win over Croatia under Thomas Tuchel.
The English FA confirmed on Monday morning that the pair had gone back to their respective clubs for additional tests. No details have yet emerged on Konsa’s physical issue.
Scott’s situation appears more worrying for Bournemouth. The midfielder is understood to have sustained a fairly serious thigh injury, with the club fearing an absence of up to two months.
That would leave Bournemouth facing a fresh selection problem after already beginning the campaign without Eli Junior Kroupi. The possible loss of Scott would remove another option from the Cherries’ midfield at an early stage of the season.
Both players had been selected from the start by Thomas Tuchel for England’s emphatic 7-0 victory over Croatia. Their departures mean they will not be available for the final fixture of the international window against the Czech Republic.
