Arsenal Draw Level With Manchester City After Leeds Comeback

London’s league picture shifted sharply on the first Saturday after the international break, with Arsenal recovering to beat Leeds United 2-1 and move level on points with Manchester City at the summit.

Mikel Arteta’s side had to come from behind, but the turnaround kept Arsenal alongside City. Enzo Maresca’s team remains first on goal difference ahead of its Sunday meeting with Liverpool.

Quick facts

  • Arsenal defeated Leeds United 2-1 after trailing.
  • Manchester City leads Arsenal on goal difference.
  • City faces Liverpool on Sunday.
  • Fulham lost 2-1 to Ipswich Town and fell to last place.
  • Tottenham drew 1-1 at Manchester United after a 92nd-minute Dominic Solanke goal.

City’s Liverpool fixture will be its first since the Premier League found the Etihad club guilty of 115 charges relating to breaches of the competition’s financial regulations.

At the other end, Fulham slipped to the bottom after Álvaro Arbeloa’s team was beaten 2-1 by Ipswich. The result left Fulham on two points.

Tottenham escaped last place at Old Trafford. Bryan Mbeumo had put Manchester United ahead, only for Solanke to strike in the 92nd minute and secure a 1-1 draw.

Spurs now have three points, the same total as Coventry, while Fulham sits one point behind them at the foot of the table.
