In north London, Arsenal’s long-awaited league triumph has given a 16-year-old forward another place in the record books. Max Dowman has received three Guinness World Records certificates after a season in which he set new age marks in Europe, the Premier League and the English title race.
A season of firsts for Dowman
- Dowman’s run of records began in November 2025, when he came off the bench in Arsenal’s 3-0 Champions League win away to Slavia Prague. At 15 years and 308 days old, he became the youngest player ever to appear in the competition. He remains the only 15-year-old to have played in Europe’s leading club tournament.
- On 14 March 2026, he struck in stoppage time during Arsenal’s 2-0 home victory over Everton at the Emirates Stadium. Aged 16 years and 73 days, Dowman became the youngest scorer in Premier League history.
- At the end of the campaign, Arsenal secured the Premier League title for the first time in 22 years. Dowman collected a winners’ medal at 16 years and 144 days, making him the youngest footballer to win England’s top-flight championship. His mark is more than a year younger than the previous record held by Manchester City’s Phil Foden.
From academy prospect to first-team presence
Dowman had already announced himself in Arsenal’s senior side last season. His debut came against Leeds when he was 15 years and 235 days old, placing him second on the list of the youngest Premier League players, behind Arsenal teammate Ethan Nwaneri.
The attacker has continued to feature under Mikel Arteta while collecting notable milestones. In September, he scored twice as Arsenal beat Ipswich Town 4-2 in the English League Cup.
He will turn 17 on 31 December, but his name is already attached to landmark moments for both English and continental football.
Guinness recognition in the Class of ’27
The three certificates are accompanied by Dowman’s inclusion in the 2027 Guinness World Records Football Edition. He is the youngest of 30 male and female players selected for the publication’s “Class of ’27”, a group presented as the game’s emerging generation.
Dowman is listed alongside established international figures including Lamine Yamal, Jude Bellingham, Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappé. He is the first player profiled in the 2027 selection, another distinction in a remarkable early chapter of his Arsenal career.
