Aston Villa Crush Fenerbahçe 6-0 in Champions League Statement

Aston Villa turned a lively European contest into a six-goal statement at home, overwhelming Fenerbahçe 6-0 to extend their strong Champions League run. The Turkish visitors created openings of their own, particularly before the interval, but Villa were ruthless whenever space appeared.

Quick facts

  • Aston Villa beat Fenerbahçe 6-0 at Villa Park.
  • Manzambi opened the scoring, with Jackson and Barkley each scoring twice.
  • Abraham completed the rout in the 90th minute.
  • Fenerbahçe struck the crossbar through Aydin and saw Muriqi denied twice by Suzuki.
  • Barkley converted a penalty after Yuksek fouled Manzambi.

Both sides began with attacking intent, but Villa found the decisive edge early. A cleared corner dropped to Manzambi, whose volley took a deflection off Skriniar and wrong-footed Ederson on its way into the net.

Fenerbahçe did not retreat after falling behind. Muriqi was twice stopped by Suzuki, while the visitors continued to press for an equaliser that might have changed the shape of the night.

Instead, Villa struck again around the half-hour. Ederson first made an important save from Jackson, but the Senegal forward soon had his response after Kamara won possession high up the pitch.

Jackson beat his defender and drove a low shot across Ederson to double the lead. Fenerbahçe again came close when Lindelof released Aydin, but the forward’s powerful effort crashed against the bar.

That miss proved costly within minutes. Jackson repeated his earlier finish, sending another low diagonal effort beyond Ederson for Villa’s third and his second goal of the match.

Fenerbahçe went into the break heavily behind despite having carried a threat in attack. After the restart, they largely relied on deliveries into the area, while Villa protected their advantage and waited for counter-attacking opportunities.

The fourth arrived from the penalty spot after Yuksek brought down Manzambi inside the box. Barkley sent Ederson the wrong way with a composed cross-goal finish.

Villa’s control became an avalanche. Mbaye found Barkley on the edge of the area during another break, and his first-time strike deflected off Elmaz before finding the net for the fifth.

There was still time for a final blow in the 90th minute. Alysson broke down the flank and squared for Abraham, who applied the simplest of finishes to seal a resounding Champions League victory.
