Giacomo Raspadori’s return from international duty has brought an unwanted interruption to Atalanta’s season. The forward has left the Italy camp early after suffering an injury during the UEFA Nations League match between Turkey and Italy, and he will not be available when Serie A resumes after the break.
The coach and the club
Medical examinations carried out on Tuesday afternoon found a low-grade strain to the biceps femoris muscle in Raspadori’s right thigh. The Bergamo club confirmed that the former Napoli and Atletico Madrid attacker has already begun his rehabilitation programme.
For Maurizio Sarri, the issue is immediate rather than theoretical: Raspadori will miss the first fixture following the international pause. The club did not provide a projected return date, leaving his recovery to be assessed as the treatment progresses.
The international break had offered Raspadori a place with the Azzurri in the Nations League, but it has instead ended with an early return to Bergamo and a spell away from the squad. Atalanta must now manage the opening stages of the post-break schedule without one of their attacking options, while the player works towards a return to full fitness.
