Serie B resumes after the long international break with Avellino hosting Sampdoria at the Partenio-Adriano Lombardi, a meeting that opens the sixth round of the season. Kick-off is scheduled for 20:30, with both sides arriving from contrasting final results before the pause.
Avellino, led by Alessandro Nesta, must respond after their defeat against Ascoli in the previous round. Sampdoria, under Corradi, had finally found a victory before the championship was interrupted, giving the Blucerchiati a result from which to continue their work in Campania.
Expected line-ups in Avellino
Nesta is expected to retain a 3-5-2 system. Martinelli should start in goal behind Izzo, Venturi and Enrici. Missori and Moruzzi are set to occupy the wide roles, with Palumbo, Palmiero and Besaggio in midfield. Russo and Cheddira are the likely attacking pair.
Avellino’s available squad also includes Iannarilli, Sassi, Di Bitonto, Simic, Sala, Sounas, Faticanti, Berenbruch, Adamo, Di Paolo, Biasci, Pandolfi and Favilli.
Sampdoria are expected to line up in a 3-4-2-1. Vindahl is set to play behind Di Pardo, Gartenmann and Delli Carri, while De Paoli, Henderson, Makoumbou and Cicconi should form the midfield line. Verschaeren and Lorenzo Insigne are expected to support Lauritsen in attack.
The Sampdoria bench options are expected to include Krastev, Massolo, Ravanelli, Ferrari, Mbabu, Cosi, Karamoh, Begić and Tutino.
