In Seville, with the international break waiting beyond the weekend, Barcelona have arrived at a point where a perfect opening can become part of the club’s history. Hansi Flick’s side face Sevilla seeking a seventh victory from seven LaLiga matches, a result that would preserve their position as outright leaders.
The most striking decision in Barcelona’s team is in goal. Croatia international Livakovic makes his debut following his arrival at the club, replacing Joan Garcia, who did not travel to Andalusia because of injury. Wojciech Szczesny is among the substitutes.
Barcelona begin with Livakovic behind a defence of Eric Garcia, Pau Cubarsí, Andreas Christensen and Joao Cancelo. Rodri, Pedri and Fermín López form the midfield, while Lamine Yamal, Raphinha and Gordon lead the visiting attack at Sevilla.
A win at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán would match Barcelona’s best LaLiga start under Flick, achieved in 2024-25. It would also leave the Catalan club one victory short of the 2013-14 opening sequence recorded under Gerardo “Tata” Martino, giving the trip south added significance before the pause in the domestic calendar.
