Barcelona Stay Perfect in LaLiga After 3-0 Win Over Getafe

Barcelona’s perfect LaLiga start rolled on under the evening lights with a 3-0 victory over Getafe, a match set in motion almost immediately by Anthony Gordon’s second-minute strike. Gabriel Jesus extended the advantage before the interval and Jules Koundé completed the result in the second half, leaving the Catalan side alone at the summit after eight rounds.

An early blow in Barcelona

Getafe had barely settled into the contest when Gordon produced the opening goal. The winger escaped two defenders, including a nutmeg near the edge of the area, before driving a right-footed shot past goalkeeper David Soria in the second minute.

Barcelona continued to control the attacking territory and came close again in the 25th minute. Gabriel Jesus combined with Dani Olmo, whose effort did not trouble Soria’s goal.

Jesus soon found the finish his pressure deserved. The Brazilian, formerly of Arsenal, won possession close to the Getafe penalty area, worked his way beyond the defensive cover and struck low from a central position into the goalkeeper’s right-hand corner.

  • Anthony Gordon opened the scoring in the second minute.
  • Gabriel Jesus made it 2-0 after regaining the ball high up the pitch.
  • Barcelona went into the break with a two-goal cushion despite continuing to search for another finish.

Olmo and Yamal keep the pressure on

Before half-time, Dani Olmo delivered a dangerous ball towards Lamine Yamal, but the teenager was unable to make proper contact and the chance passed.

Barcelona resumed with the same intent. Olmo was denied by a low Soria save after receiving a pass from Xavi Espart, while Yamal later cut inside with his familiar dribble and sent an ambitious attempt over the crossbar.

The third goal eventually arrived from the right side. Following a short corner, Yamal lifted a cross into the six-yard area, where Koundé was waiting to turn the ball home and settle the contest.

Eight wins and a clear lead

The result keeps Barcelona unbeaten with eight victories from eight league matches, taking them to 24 points and sole possession of first place.

Getafe remain on eight points after the defeat and sit 13th in the standings for the time being.
