Barcelona swept aside Roma 6-0 at the Stadio Tre Fontane to strengthen their early command of the Women’s Champions League league phase, turning a controlled first half into a ruthless second-half statement in the Italian capital.
Caroline Graham Hansen scored twice, with Claudia Pina also claiming a double. Ewa Pajor added another and Roma’s Oladipo put through her own net as Barcelona collected three more points and moved clear at the top of the standings.
Barcelona take control before the interval
The visitors imposed themselves from the opening whistle, pushing Roma deep and circulating possession around a compact home defence that hoped to find space on the counter-attack. Barcelona were patient, confident that sustained pressure would eventually create openings.
Esmee Brugts produced an early warning when she met Graham Hansen’s delivery from the right first time. Graham Hansen then took matters into her own hands, collecting the ball in midfield, carrying it beyond several opponents and finishing after entering the penalty area.
Barcelona continued to threaten. Brugts sent an effort narrowly wide from outside the area, while Sydney Schertenleib saw a close-range attempt after a corner blocked by the Roma goalkeeper.
The second goal came five minutes before the break. Pina and Graham Hansen attempted a quick exchange, but Oladipo diverted the ball into her own net. Roma’s response amounted largely to two efforts from distance by Manuela Giugliano.
A seven-minute surge settles the night
Barcelona ended the contest shortly after the restart. Pajor supplied Pina, who drove into the box, wrong-footed her marker and sent a low finish past Rachele Baldi.
Moments later, Serrajordi released Graham Hansen through the middle. The Norwegian was left one-on-one with Baldi and lifted a composed finish over the goalkeeper for her second of the evening.
With the result secure, Barcelona coach Pere Romeu used the occasion to manage his squad. Aitana Bonmatí and Camara entered first, followed later by Julià, Rosalía and Van Asten.
Pina made it five with a fierce strike from outside the penalty area, her shot rising and dipping beyond a surprised Baldi. Pajor completed the scoring after a flowing team move: Guijarro delivered from wide, Van Asten headed the ball into the forward’s path and the Polish striker supplied the finish.
For Barcelona, the scale of the victory offered more than another three points. It confirmed their authority at the start of the European campaign, while Roma were left to absorb a difficult home night against a side that accelerated whenever the match allowed it.
