Maximilian Beier settled Borussia Dortmund’s 1-0 Bundesliga win over Eintracht Frankfurt with a fine 80th-minute strike at SIGNAL IDUNA PARK. Jobe Bellingham, on as a substitute a minute earlier, supplied the pass for Beier’s right-footed finish from outside the box into the top-right corner.
Dortmund turn pressure into a late winner
Matchday seven remained scoreless for 79 minutes despite Dortmund carrying much of the attacking work. Frankfurt goalkeeper Noah Atubolu made early saves from Serhou Guirassy and Felix Nmecha, while Dortmund also struck the woodwork after the interval.
- Guirassy had a close-range effort saved in the 17th minute and headed wide from Joey Veerman’s corner on 31 minutes.
- Fábio Silva headed narrowly over early on, then had a second attempt from distance fly high.
- Felix Nmecha sent a first-half header wide and later had shots blocked, including one shortly after the restart.
- Guirassy hit the crossbar with a close-range header in the 53rd minute after another Veerman corner.
- Julian Ryerson fired just over from inside the area in the 75th minute.
Dortmund made a triple change in the 68th minute, introducing Carney Chukwuemeka, Ethan Nwaneri and Beier for Marcel Sabitzer, Fábio Silva and Daniel Svensson. Chukwuemeka quickly helped create openings for Nwaneri and Nmecha before Bellingham replaced Nmecha in the 79th minute.
The decisive move followed immediately. Bellingham found Beier, whose shot from beyond the penalty area gave Atubolu no chance.
Frankfurt have their moments
Eintracht defended a sustained Dortmund set-piece threat and created several chances of their own. Nnamdi Collins had an early shot blocked, while Jonathan Burkardt sent two efforts off target in the first half.
- Younes Ebnoutalib forced a save from the centre of the Dortmund area on 33 minutes.
- Farès Chaïbi missed from inside the box in the first half, then saw a long-range effort saved by Gregor Kobel at the start of the second period.
- Chaïbi later had another attempt held following Ritsu Doan’s pass.
- Elias Baum shot high from outside the area in the 63rd minute.
- Frankfurt had several attacks halted for offside, with Robin Koch twice caught beyond the Dortmund line and Ebnoutalib also flagged.
Frankfurt coach’s changes came after Dortmund’s pressure had increased. Can Uzun and Ansgar Knauff replaced Ebnoutalib and Burkardt in the 77th minute. Mario Götze and Love Arrhov entered for Noël Aséko and Chaïbi seven minutes later, before Ayoube Amaimouni-Echghouyab took over from Doan in the 87th.
Cards and closing stages
Chaïbi was booked in the 63rd minute for a dangerous challenge on Ryerson. Collins received a yellow card five minutes earlier after fouling Nmecha.
Dortmund protected the lead through three minutes of added time. Joane Gadou replaced Ryerson in the 92nd minute, with Frankfurt unable to create a final opening. The result finished Borussia Dortmund 1, Eintracht Frankfurt 0.
