Bodø/Glimt Stun Borussia Dortmund with Sjøvold’s Arctic Winner

Bodø/Glimt turned another Arctic Circle European night into a statement, beating Borussia Dortmund 1-0 to claim a sixth successive continental home victory and revive their Champions League campaign after the heavy opening defeat in Munich.

Sjøvold delivers the decisive moment

The Norwegian side had been the sharper team long before they found the goal their performance deserved. They controlled possession, carried greater attacking purpose and repeatedly pushed Dortmund back, with the visitors unable to impose themselves in front of a buoyant home crowd.

The breakthrough arrived seven minutes after the interval. Sjøvold struck in the 52nd minute, finally converting Bodø/Glimt’s superiority into the only goal of the match.

  • Bodø/Glimt won 1-0 at home against Borussia Dortmund.
  • Sjøvold scored the winner in the 52nd minute.
  • The result marked Bodø/Glimt’s sixth consecutive European win at their own ground.
  • The hosts were considered worthy winners after creating more of the game’s momentum and chances.

Hauge leads, Haikin protects

Jens Petter Hauge was central to Bodø/Glimt’s command of the contest. Operating as the side’s creative No. 10, he set the rhythm of their attacking play and gave Dortmund persistent problems between the lines.

At the other end, goalkeeper Nikita Haikin made four notable saves to ensure that the lead held. Dortmund, featuring Jobe Bellingham, did not put sustained pressure on the home defence for much of the evening, despite Bodø/Glimt continuing to attack after taking the lead.

Dortmund’s late response falls short

The German side sought a route back into the match late on. Nwaneri created one of their clearer openings, while Serhou Guirassy was introduced from the bench in an attempt to add greater threat in the penalty area.

Neither change altered the outcome. Dortmund failed to score and left Norway still on three points, the total they earned by defeating Villarreal in their first Champions League fixture.

A recovery after Munich

For Bodø/Glimt, the victory offered an immediate answer to their 5-0 loss away to Bayern Munich in the opening round. The result restores belief in a campaign that had begun with a severe setback, while reinforcing the growing European reputation of their home stadium.

  1. Bodø/Glimt opened their campaign with a 5-0 defeat against Bayern Munich in Munich.
  2. They responded by keeping Dortmund scoreless and earning a 1-0 victory.
  3. Dortmund remain on three points after their opening win over Villarreal.
