Bodø/Glimt Stun Borussia Dortmund to Revive Champions League Campaign

Bodø/Glimt restored their European edge at Aspmyra with a 1-0 Champions League victory over Borussia Dortmund, responding to a five-goal defeat at Bayern Munich in their opening match by bringing down another of the continent’s established names.

Dortmund attempted to alter the contest with four substitutions after falling behind, while Bodø/Glimt relied on a disciplined collective effort and a sequence of important interventions from goalkeeper Nikita Haikin to protect their lead.

Aspmyra holds firm again

The Norwegian side had been one of last season’s Champions League surprises and again showed why travelling to northern Norway can be an unforgiving assignment. Dortmund controlled much of the ball early on, but their possession brought little genuine danger in the final third.

As the first half developed, Bodø/Glimt became increasingly assured and found space to break. Fet sent an effort narrowly past the post, before Hauge released Blomberg in another swift transition, only for the chance to pass agonisingly close to producing the opening goal.

Dortmund had offered little in attack before the interval and could be satisfied to reach half-time level. Bodø/Glimt returned with the same conviction, however, and their pressure was rewarded seven minutes after the restart.

Sjøvold delivers the decisive moment

Sjøvold made it 1-0 in the 52nd minute, arriving at the near post to finish a move involving Berg and Auklend. It was the breakthrough Bodø/Glimt had threatened after issuing two early second-half warnings.

The German visitors responded by changing four players and gained a stronger attacking foothold. Nmecha forced Haikin into a notable save with a strike from outside the area, while the Bodø goalkeeper also denied Nwaneri’s header.

Guirassy and Svensson each came close as Dortmund pressed for an equaliser, but the home defence repeatedly closed off the final route to goal. Dortmund retained the initiative without turning their late siege into clear chances, and Bodø/Glimt fought through to the final whistle to secure a defining 1-0 result.

After the harsh start in Munich, the win gives Bodø/Glimt fresh momentum in their European week and confirms that Aspmyra remains a difficult stop for Champions League visitors.
