The television presenter, a lifelong Inter supporter, recalled an uncomfortable episode from a previous Roma-Inter meeting at the Olimpico. A red pizza was thrown from the home section, missing Bonolis but hitting a young spectator seated behind him.

Bonolis said he turned around and saw five people who did not appear welcoming, before they began shouting abuse at him. He felt tempted to go up and confront them, but stadium stewards stopped him and restored calm in the section.
That memory has not softened his view of Roma’s support. Referring to the celebrations at the Circo Massimo and the mood around the club, Bonolis joked that two draws are enough to leave Roma fans feeling downcast.
The comment arrives on a day when there is little room for a subdued atmosphere. Roma and Inter have begun the campaign perfectly, and their meeting offers an early test of which club can turn an unbeaten start into a more meaningful position in the season’s wider contest.
Bonolis drew a very different distinction when speaking about Lazio supporters. The organised fan groups of Lazio and Inter have maintained a historic friendship, and he said he is fond of the Biancocelesti faithful.
His chauffeur is an especially committed Lazio fan, he explained, to the point that car journeys feature Lazio radio rather than music or news bulletins. Bonolis added that he has become familiar with the full range of Lazio supporters’ opinions on club president Claudio Lotito.
