Brazil Beat Australia 4-2 as Raphinha Scores Before Injury Scare

In Brisbane, Brazil closed its Australian visit with a comeback that carried both encouragement and concern for Carlo Ancelotti. The five-goal friendly finished 4-2 for the visitors, but Barcelona captain Raphinha left at half-time after reporting pain in his leg.

Raphinha had scored Brazil’s equaliser shortly before the interval, converting a penalty in the 44th minute after Harry Souttar fouled Danilo Santos. It was the winger’s first Brazil goal since Ancelotti took charge of the national team.

The Brazilian Football Confederation confirmed that the Barcelona player was suffering leg discomfort. He did not return for the second half, with Real Madrid forward Endrick taking his place.

Brazil had made an ideal start in the third minute. Vanderson completed a flowing team move that began with Bruno Guimaraes and continued through Danilo and Rayan.

Australia, however, punished loose Brazilian passing to turn the contest around during the first half. Alessandro Circati struck with his right foot in the 30th minute, before Connor Metcalfe scored from outside the area with his left four minutes later.

After Raphinha restored parity from the spot, Brazil found the decisive response late on. Arsenal midfielder Guimaraes put Ancelotti’s side ahead in the 70th minute after benefiting from Endrick’s ball, and Vinicius Junior sealed the result from another penalty ten minutes later.

Endrick was also involved in a second-half confrontation with Souttar. Following a challenge by the Australian defender, the Madrid player rose angrily and pushed Souttar. Players from both sides became involved, with Endrick himself shoved back to the turf before the dispute was brought under control.

The Brisbane meetings

The match was Brazil and Australia’s second meeting in Brisbane within five days. Their first friendly, played on Friday, ended level at 1-1.
