Łódź will stage the decisive match of the FIFA Women’s Under-20 World Cup on Sunday, with Brazilian referee Charly Wendy Straub Deretti appointed to oversee Spain’s final against North Korea at the Władysław Król Municipal Stadium.
The kick-off is scheduled for 13:00 Brasília time, and the appointment places the 39-year-old official from Jaraguá do Sul, in the southern state of Santa Catarina, at the centre of one of the leading fixtures in the women’s international calendar.
Deretti will be joined by fellow Brazilian assistants Anne Gomes de Sá and Fernanda Nandrea. It will be her fourth match at the Polish-hosted tournament, having already taken charge of three earlier games.
A Brazilian official on a major stage
Registered with the Santa Catarina Football Federation since 2016, Deretti entered the Brazilian Football Confederation’s refereeing group in 2018 and became a FIFA-listed official in 2020.
Her career has included work in the Women’s Under-17 World Cup, Copa Libertadores Femenina, Women’s Supercopa, Brazil’s women’s league and the Santa Catarina state championship. She has also officiated across divisions of Brazil’s men’s national league system.
In 2025, the CBF selected Deretti as the best video assistant referee in the Brazilian Women’s Championship.
Breakthrough in the men’s top flight
The World Cup final appointment follows another landmark year for Deretti. In 2026, she made her debut as referee in Brazil’s Série A, taking charge of São Paulo’s 23rd-round meeting with Coritiba.
Her role in Łódź now brings a further international milestone, as Spain and North Korea contest the Under-20 world title in Poland.
