Bruno Fernandes Targeted in Cheshire Burglary After United’s Como Defeat

While Manchester United were enduring a 4-1 Champions League defeat at Como, captain Bruno Fernandes’s home in Cheshire was targeted in a burglary on Wednesday night.

Police in the north-west of England are investigating suspicious activity involving three unidentified men near the property at about 8.30pm local time, shortly after the final whistle in Italy. Fernandes and his family were not at home during the incident.

Investigation under way in Cheshire

  1. Manchester United travelled to Como for the third round of the Champions League league phase, where the English club lost 4-1.
  2. At around 8.30pm in England, three men not known to the household were reported near Fernandes’s Cheshire address.
  3. Officers attended the property but found none of the suspected individuals there.
  4. Police subsequently confirmed that a burglary had taken place and that several items had been taken.

The investigation remains ongoing as Cheshire Police seek to establish the circumstances of the break-in and identify those involved. The incident came on an already difficult evening for United, whose setback on the shores of Lake Como compounded their European disappointment.
