Alexis Mac Allister’s Liverpool future is not yet a contract issue in the boardroom, but it is beginning to look like one for the seasons ahead. The Argentina midfielder remains tied to Anfield until June 2028, with his father and agent Carlos saying no discussions over an extension have started.
Carlos Mac Allister said Liverpool’s hierarchy have not approached the family about a new deal. “Nobody from Liverpool’s board has contacted us so far to renew his contract,” he said.
There is no suggestion of a row from the player’s side. Mac Allister’s camp maintains that the existing agreement still has plenty of life in it and that the midfielder’s job is to keep delivering whenever he is picked.
“We have a valid contract and we are committed to it and to Liverpool,” Carlos Mac Allister said. “If the club do not offer a renewal, that is their right. At this moment, Alexis has to give his best to the club in every match.”
No dispute, but no talks either
Liverpool have dealt with contract matters elsewhere in the squad, which has inevitably placed Mac Allister’s position under a little more scrutiny. His father, however, rejected the idea that the World Cup winner is unhappy at being left without fresh terms.
“Alexis is not disappointed,” he said. “It is a decision made by the club and we do not judge their decisions. We are preparing for whatever may come.”
It is a measured line, but one that leaves the door open to future developments. With a deal running to 2028, there is no immediate need for Liverpool or the player to force the issue. Still, the calendar has a habit of making distant contract dates feel rather nearer once transfer windows begin to loom.
Real Madrid link dismissed
Carlos Mac Allister also ruled out any contact from Real Madrid, who have been mentioned in connection with the midfielder’s future.
“Nobody from Real Madrid has contacted us at any point in Alexis’s career,” he said.
For now, then, the picture is straightforward: Mac Allister is under contract at Liverpool until 2028, no renewal negotiation has been opened, and there has been no approach from Madrid. The midfielder remains committed to Liverpool, while his representatives wait to see what comes next.
