Macklin Celebrini was back in the middle for San Jose on Saturday, and the Sharks’ new captain wasted little time getting on the scoresheet. The 20-year-old center returned from a two-game absence caused by a lower-body injury and scored his first goal of the season in a 3-1 defeat to the Edmonton Oilers at SAP Center.
After the horn
Celebrini’s goal provided the Sharks’ lone scoring play against Edmonton. It was his first game since missing two contests with the lower-body issue.
The return was also the first look at Celebrini after San Jose recently named him captain, adding another responsibility to the young center’s role as the club looks to build around him.
Edmonton left San Jose with the 3-1 win.
