Chelsea’s Joao Pedro Withdraws From Brazil Squad With Injury

Brazil will travel without Joao Pedro after the Chelsea forward withdrew from the squad for the coming friendlies because of an unspecified injury.

Joao Pedro ruled out of Brazil friendlies after Chelsea outing

The 24-year-old played the full match in Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Hull City on Saturday, scoring once and setting up another goal, but will not join Brazil for their September and October fixtures.

The Brazilian Football Confederation did not disclose the nature or severity of the problem. Fluminense midfielder Matheus Martinelli has been called up as Joao Pedro’s replacement.

Australia tour followed by India match

Brazil are scheduled to play two friendlies in Australia, on 25 and 29 September, before travelling to Calcutta to face India on 3 October.
