The move
The Collectif Ultras Paris announced on Wednesday that it would ask its lawyer to bring an emergency case before France’s Conseil d’État. The group wants to challenge the expected ministerial order preventing Paris Saint-Germain supporters from travelling to Marseille for the Ligue 1 meeting on Sunday at 20:45.
It also intends to seek the cancellation of a prefectural order dated 28 August 2026. The supporters’ group said it had reached the limit after 11 years of restrictions on its trips to Marseille.
“Eleven years of bans is enough,” the group said, arguing that repeated prohibitions cannot replace genuine discussion with the authorities. It said six prefects had come and gone without meaningful dialogue being established.
The Paris ultras have been barred from travelling to Marseille since 2015. Marseille supporters have similarly been prevented from attending fixtures in Paris during that period.
The group said it would use every legal avenue available to defend freedom of movement and the right to support its club, insisting it was not asking for special treatment but for the law to be applied.
The French season around it
The latest dispute arrives ahead of one of Ligue 1’s most heavily policed occasions, with Marseille set to host PSG at the Vélodrome. The stadium had not yet sold out for the match at the time of the supporters’ announcement.
French authorities can impose travel bans when the presence of visiting supporters is considered likely to create serious risks to public order. State representatives can also restrict supporters’ movement in certain circumstances.
For the Collectif Ultras Paris, the legal action is an attempt to challenge a pattern that has defined the away end of the Classique for more than a decade: Paris supporters absent in Marseille, Marseille fans absent in Paris, and another major French fixture staged without its traditional travelling support.
