Daniel Osvaldo has offered a reassuring sign from hospital after a serious health scare in Argentina, appearing in a photograph with his father Raúl as his recovery continues.
The decision
The former Roma forward has been in the Bicentennial Hospital in Esteban Echeverría, Monte Grande, for more than two weeks after a pulmonary infection left him requiring intensive care.
Osvaldo explained that the illness began with an untreated cavity. The infection subsequently spread to his lungs, creating a condition serious enough to put his life at risk.
After his time in intensive care, the former striker was moved to an intermediate-care ward. He is now recovering gradually, although doctors are still keeping him under observation and carrying out further tests.
In the image shared on Instagram, Osvaldo is smiling alongside his father. Raúl is wearing a Roma tracksuit, with the club crest visible, and the post was captioned “Daddy Romano”.
For a player whose spell in the Italian capital remains part of his football story, the shirt in the hospital room made the message feel like a small nod to a familiar past. More importantly, the picture suggested that the most difficult phase of his condition may now be behind him.
