Diego Moreira Tops Serie A’s Best New Fantasy Performers

Serie A’s early weeks have offered more than the familiar names. A group of young arrivals and emerging figures have quickly altered the conversation, with goals and assists placing them at the top of the fantasy ratings among players who have received marks in at least three matches.

The decision

Diego Moreira leads the group with an average rating of 9.8. The Belgian winger, born in 2004, joined from Strasbourg during the summer for €50 million and has scored three times in his first three rated appearances: a brace against Lazio and another goal against Lecce.

His role remains a question for Amorim. Moreira has started only once, in the match against Juventus, despite making such an immediate impact. The coach is now considering how to create more room for him as the season develops.

At Monza, Gustavo Varela has made a similarly forceful start. The Portuguese forward has four goals in four appearances and carries a 9.6 average. He missed only the third-round meeting with Parma because of a physical problem; in every other outing, he has produced at least a passing performance.

Frosinone have two of the championship’s early standouts. Giorgi Kvernadze is averaging 8.9 after scoring in each of his last three matches, while also registering an assist against Fiorentina. The Georgian finished last season in Serie B with five goals and has already set himself on course to surpass that return.

Antonio Raimondo follows on 8.7. Another player born in 2004, he has struck two doubles, against Fiorentina and Venezia, giving Frosinone a second young attacker whose contribution is shaping their early momentum.

Franco Mastantuono completes the leading five on 7.9. The Argentine, born in 2007, arrived from Real Madrid and announced himself with a hat-trick against Venezia. Under Vanoli, he has found the conditions to begin making an impact.

Sunday’s picture

The individual performances already tell part of the wider Serie A story. Moreira punished Lazio and Lecce, Varela has delivered whenever fitness has permitted, and Frosinone’s rise has been supported by Kvernadze’s run of goals and Raimondo’s decisive doubles.

For clubs and coaches, the next task is not simply to celebrate a promising opening. It is to turn these first contributions into reliable choices across a long campaign, when young players move from surprise to expectation and every Sunday begins to carry greater weight.
