Serie A has reached its first international break after five rounds, and the early fantasy standings have produced an unexpected midfield leader. Diego Moreira, after missing the opening two weekends, has surged ahead of better-established names with a remarkable return in his first three rated appearances.
The decision
Only midfielders who have received ratings in at least three matches are included in the early fantasy average rankings. On that basis, Moreira sits first with a 9.8 average and a valuation of 41 credits.
The Milan midfielder did not feature in the first two league fixtures, but Amorim handed him a starting place against Juventus. That first outing brought a 5.5 rating, before his campaign changed direction at the Olimpico: introduced from the bench against Lazio, Moreira scored twice. He then found the net again in Milan’s home meeting with Lecce, taking his total to three goals.
Hakan Calhanoglu is second, carrying an 8.8 fantasy average at a 64-credit price. The midfielder began with goals against Monza and Cagliari, but an injury then kept him out of the matches with Udinese and Roma. His total has therefore been built across three appearances.
Davide Frattesi completes the top three on an 8.6 average, with a valuation of 34 credits. His move away from Inter has brought regular football at Lazio and a decisive early contribution in the league leaders’ strong start.

Frattesi has played in every one of Lazio’s five Serie A fixtures and has scored three times. His first goal came after he entered from the bench against Bologna, followed by goals in each of the next two matches.
Those strikes have carried particular weight for the Biancocelesti, who go into the pause at the top of the table. Five rounds are far too few to settle a season, but the first chapter has already altered the midfield conversation: Moreira has made the quickest impression, Calhanoglu has lost momentum through injury, and Frattesi has found the continuity that had been missing at Inter.
