Gallardo has taken his first step in international football with Ecuador, but the Tri were comprehensively beaten by South Korea in their opening match under his direction.
The result marked a losing start for Gallardo in the national-team game, after a career previously associated with club management. Ecuador were unable to find a response as South Korea completed a three-goal victory.
