Estéban Lepaul found his voice again under the Rennes lights, ending a four-match scoring drought with the opening goal against Auxerre on Sunday in Ligue 1’s sixth round.
The move
The newly capped France international gave Rennes an early advantage after controlling a long delivery from Charlie Cresswell and producing a fine finish in one flowing action.
It was Lepaul’s first goal in four appearances for the Breton club, a timely response from the forward after a quiet run in front of goal.
The French season around it
The strike came in Rennes’ Ligue 1 meeting with Auxerre on matchday six. Lepaul, recently brought into the France international setup, marked his new status with a decisive attacking contribution for his club.
