The France Under-21 side return to qualifying duty on Saturday with Luxembourg arriving after a fixture reshaped by last year’s tragedy. The match was postponed following the Luxembourg team bus accident in September 2025, with both federations agreeing to move the game.
The move
France will face Luxembourg in what is officially their second Euro Under-21 qualifying matchday, although the calendar has taken an unusual route. The rescheduled fixture gives the Bleuets a chance to secure qualification before their final group match against Switzerland on Tuesday.
A win over Luxembourg would put France through definitively, removing the need for a result against the Swiss in the last qualifier.
Luxembourg arrive with little left to chase in the group. They are fifth on seven points and have been out of contention for some time, despite beating the Faroe Islands on Wednesday.
The French season around it
France protected first place in the group with a 2-0 victory over Estonia on Tuesday. The result came at a cost, however, as Mayulu and Mbappé both left the match injured.
The Bleuets remained leaders after Switzerland suffered a heavy 5-1 defeat against Iceland. That result has left France in control heading into Saturday’s delayed meeting with Luxembourg, with qualification now within reach before the final trip of the campaign.
