Frosinone have reached the first international break with the composure of a side determined to make its return to Serie A count. Massimiliano Alvini’s promoted team moved into sixth place after five rounds by beating Cesc Fabregas’s Como 2-0, extending a start that has quickly given the yellow-and-blues a place among the early stories of the season.
Three victories, one draw and only the opening-day defeat to Juventus have shaped Frosinone’s first five matches. The latest win over Como underlined the confidence growing around Alvini’s group, whose leading figures have delivered both goals and decisive moments across the opening month.
The players driving Frosinone’s start
Giorgi Kvernadze has been the most productive performer, with a fantasy average of 8.9 among players who have received ratings in at least three games. The Georgian forward has scored in each of the last three fixtures, against Venezia, Genoa and Como. Earlier, in the second round against Fiorentina, he also created Antonio Raimondo’s opening goal. Comparisons with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia may have followed him at first, but Kvernadze is beginning to establish a name of his own in Serie A.
Raimondo has been just as central to Frosinone’s rise. His 8.7 average reflects two braces, one against Fiorentina and another against Venezia, taking him level with Lautaro and Varela in the early scoring standings. There is still a note of discipline to manage, however: the forward has already collected two yellow cards.
In midfield, Giacomo Calò has given the side rhythm and contribution in the final third. He found the net against Como and had previously supplied the assist for Bracaglia’s goal against Fiorentina, earning a 7.4 average. Romano Schmid has also settled swiftly into the division. The Austrian attacking midfielder has registered three assists, one against Genoa and two in the Como victory, for an average of 6.8.
Patrizio Masini completes the group of Frosinone’s most consistent early performers. With a 6.5 average, he has provided another reliable midfield reference point and recorded an assist in the match with Venezia. For Alvini, the break arrives with a useful reward for a bright opening: Frosinone are not merely collecting points, but finding different voices within a team that has adapted quickly to the demands of the top flight.
