Golden Knights Rebound in Nashville With 5-2 Win Over Predators

Vegas shook off Monday’s loss in Minnesota with a five-goal answer in Nashville, beating the Predators 5-2 at Bridgestone Arena on Tuesday. The Golden Knights moved to 6-2-0 behind a 25-save night from Adin Hill, while Nashville fell to 2-2-2.

  • Tomas Hertl, Jack Eichel, William Karlsson and Trevor Connelly scored for Vegas. Brett Pesce was listed with a goal and an assist, while the fifth Vegas goal in the game sequence was credited to Brett Howden on a deflection.
  • Rasmus Andersson supplied two assists for the Golden Knights.
  • Hill turned aside 25 shots, including Jack Drury’s penalty-shot attempt late in the opening period.
  • Ryan O’Reilly scored once and added an assist for Nashville. Adam Edstrom also scored.
  • Juuse Saros made 20 saves for the Predators.
  • Nicolas Hague recorded his first point in six games with Nashville, assisting on Edstrom’s first NHL shorthanded goal.
  • Karlsson scored for a second straight game after netting his first of the season Monday.

Nashville got the first push at 3:55 of the first period. Filip Forsberg fired from the left circle, and O’Reilly collected the rebound at the top of the crease before slipping a backhand into the open side.

Vegas tied it shortly after the Predators’ power play expired. Hertl beat Saros with a wrist shot over the blocker from the left circle at 6:46. Eichel then gave the Golden Knights their first lead at 12:48, redirecting Brayden McNabb’s pass across the slot while driving the net.

Drury had a chance to pull Nashville even 21 seconds later, but Hill denied the wrist shot on the penalty shot.

Edstrom brought the building back into it at 8:45 of the second. He lost the puck on a breakaway, recovered it off the end boards, worked his way back to the front and beat Hill on the far side while Nashville was shorthanded. Hague’s assist marked his first point since joining the Predators.

The tie lasted until the late stages of the middle frame. Karlsson took a puck from the right circle and snapped it into the upper left corner at 17:44 for a 3-2 Vegas edge.

Connelly added separation early in the third, finishing Noah Hanifin’s pass through the zone at 4:49. Vegas made it 5-2 at 6:24 when Howden deflected a shot between his legs and watched it go in off the left post.
