Hertl, Eichel Power Golden Knights to 6-2 Rout of Kraken

The Vegas Golden Knights turned a tight-looking Pacific Division stop into a rout Tuesday, rolling past the Seattle Kraken 6-2 at Climate Pledge Arena behind four-point nights from Tomas Hertl and Jack Eichel.

Hertl scored twice and added two assists, while Eichel supplied a goal and three helpers as Vegas improved to 3-1-0 and stretched its winning streak to two games. Victor Olofsson buried two goals before departing in the third period after a boarding hit, and Mark Stone added a short-handed goal and an assist.

Seattle, coming off a 6-1 win over the Calgary Flames on Sunday, fell to 2-2-0. Shane Wright and Jared McCann scored for the Kraken, with Kaapo Kakko setting up both goals.

Vegas breaks it open over the first 40 minutes

Olofsson opened the scoring at 13:02 of the first period. He redirected a Rasmus Andersson point blast while going down to the ice, sending the puck through Joey Daccord’s right side for a 1-0 Vegas lead.

The Golden Knights doubled the margin on the power play at 15:58. Eichel worked the puck from the left corner to Hertl stationed at the edge of the crease, and Hertl hammered a one-timer beneath Daccord’s glove.

Stone made it 3-0 just 1:43 into the second while Vegas was short-handed. Seattle defenseman Brandon Montour lost his stick when it broke on a slap-shot attempt, allowing the Golden Knights to spring a 2-on-1. Eichel found Stone in the left circle, and Stone drove a one-timer off Daccord’s right pad and across the line.

Olofsson struck again at 13:07 of the middle frame after Daccord got a piece of Hertl’s pass through the slot but could not control the rebound. Olofsson collected it and snapped the puck in off the left post.

Eichel capped the period with a breakaway goal at 19:29, putting Vegas ahead 5-0 and ending Daccord’s evening. Daccord surrendered five goals on 21 shots over two periods. Philipp Grubauer took over for Seattle and stopped six shots in relief.

Power-play goals trade places in the third

Wright finally got Seattle on the board at 4:52 of the third period. Kakko fed him near the top of the slot, and Wright’s shot rang in off the right post.

Vegas answered on another power play at 9:43. Ivan Barbashev sent the puck from the goal line to Hertl, who waited for Grubauer to commit before sliding the finish under the goaltender’s glove for his second of the night.

McCann closed the scoring at 15:00, beating Carter Hart over the blocker from the left circle with Seattle on the man advantage.

Olofsson exits after board hit

Olofsson left the game at 8:03 of the third period after Ben Meyers drove him into the boards. Meyers was assessed a five-minute major for boarding and was ejected with a game misconduct.

Hart finished with 25 saves for Vegas, which received goals from five different skaters and had its top offensive players driving the result from the opening period.
