Hlozek Double Fires Hoffenheim Past Stuttgart in Bundesliga Clash

Adam Hlozek scored twice as Hoffenheim beat Stuttgart 2-1 at the SNP Arena, recovering quickly after Maximilian Mittelstädt had levelled just after half-time. The result came in Bundesliga Matchday 3, played on Saturday 12 September 2026.

Hlozek’s double gives Hoffenheim the edge over Stuttgart

Hoffenheim struck on the break in the 13th minute. Bambasé Conté released Hlozek with a forward pass and the Czech forward placed a low right-foot finish inside the left post.

Stuttgart had early openings through Ermedin Demirovic, whose efforts in the eighth and 21st minutes were saved by Oliver Baumann. Demirovic also had a shot blocked after Josha Vagnoman’s delivery.

Quick facts

  • Final score: Hoffenheim 2-1 Stuttgart.
  • Adam Hlozek scored in the 13th and 67th minutes.
  • Maximilian Mittelstädt made it 1-1 in the 48th minute.
  • Angelo Stiller left injured for Stuttgart after 35 minutes.
  • Wouter Burger was booked for Hoffenheim in the 63rd minute.
  • VAR overturned a possible Hoffenheim penalty for handball by Hlozek before half-time.

Hlozek had already missed narrowly from an Adam Daghim pass in the fourth minute. Mats Rots, Tim Lemperle and Hlozek all tested or threatened Fabian Bredlow before the interval, while Stuttgart’s Grischa Prömel shot over from distance.

Stuttgart lost Stiller after treatment for an injury in the opening half-hour. Yanik Spalt replaced him in the 35th minute. Hoffenheim were then denied a penalty in added time when VAR ruled that Hlozek’s handball did not warrant the spot kick.

Mittelstädt brought Stuttgart level three minutes after the restart, finishing low from the middle of the box. Stuttgart then pressed for a second: Finn Jeltsch fired wide from range and Demirovic missed narrowly after Jeltsch’s pass.

Hoffenheim regained control with chances for Burger and Lemperle, both saved, before Hlozek delivered the decisive finish. Daghim carried the counterattack and found him in the area; Hlozek converted left-footed into the bottom-left corner for 2-1 in the 67th minute.

Hoffenheim made a double defensive change two minutes later, bringing on Koki Machida for Rots and Valentin Gendrey for Vladimír Coufal. Patrick Wimmer had earlier replaced Conté, while Fisnik Asllani and Andrej Kramaric came on in the 82nd minute for Lemperle and Hlozek.

Stuttgart introduced Deniz Undav and Bilal El Khannouss for Demirovic and Chris Führich after 65 minutes. Jamie Leweling replaced Vagnoman, with Leo Sauer on for Ramon Hendriks in the 81st minute.

The visitors had repeated late set-piece pressure. Jeltsch headed over twice and sent another attempt wide, while Jeff Chabot, El Khannouss and Prömel had headers blocked. In the final seconds, Chabot headed Mittelstädt’s corner wide of the right post.

Baumann required treatment in the 82nd minute but resumed. At the other end, Bredlow saved late shots from Wimmer and Asllani as Hoffenheim saw out the win.
