Real Madrid Castilla arrived at Can Misses seeking to turn the confidence of their derby victory into another step forward, but Ibiza’s home strength promised a demanding Primera Federación night. The fixture began after a short delay, with Ibiza ninth on nine points and Castilla 12th with eight from six matches, only three points outside the leading group.
Ibiza came into the contest having beaten then-leaders Villarreal B 1-0 away from home. Their league record had offered no middle ground: three wins and three defeats, with no draws. Castilla, meanwhile, had eased concerns around the side with a 3-2 derby success, though Thiago Pitarch had returned to the first team after making three appearances for the reserve side.
The visitors initially had more of the ball and worked their way around Ibiza’s pressing, while the home side disrupted the opening rhythm with a pair of fouls. Castilla were looking again to the attacking threat of Carvajal, whose derby strike had proved decisive, with Cestero expected to set the tempo in midfield and Alexis Ciria restored on the flank.
Ibiza created the more notable early attempts. Joan Martínez did enough to deflect Manu Justo’s shot behind for a corner, before goalkeeper Mestre rose sharply to collect Erik’s header from the resulting set piece.
