India vs Brazil: Kick-off Time and TV Channel for Historic Friendly

Calcutta is set for a landmark evening on Saturday as India prepare to meet Brazil for the first time in their history, with Carlo Ancelotti’s Seleção bringing a high-profile finish to the international break.

The occasion carries particular weight for the hosts. Since the FIFA rankings were introduced in 1992, India have never faced an opponent placed as high as Brazil, who sit sixth in the world. The match will therefore open a new chapter for Indian football in front of its home crowd.

India arrive after a 1-1 draw with Panama last Thursday and still have another demanding fixture ahead, against Uruguay on Tuesday. Brazil, meanwhile, have used their time in Australia to build momentum after two meetings with the hosts. The first ended level at 1-1 before the Brazilians responded with a 4-2 win a few days later.

There will be one notable absence when Brazil travel to Calcutta. Raphinha was forced off at half-time of the second match against Australia because of injury and will not make the trip. His absence slightly alters the picture for Ancelotti, but Brazil remain overwhelming favourites for a fixture that will close their international window and give India an unprecedented test.
