Inter, Lazio, Roma and Milan Set Unbeaten Serie A Record After Eight Rounds

Eight rounds into the Serie A season, the table has produced an unprecedented early pattern: Inter, Lazio, Roma and Milan are all yet to lose. Never before have four clubs reached this stage of the Italian championship without a defeat, and the result is a crowded contest at the summit after two demanding months of football.

Inter and Lazio share first place on 22 points, each having won seven matches and drawn one. Inter’s only dropped points came in Rome, where Lautaro Martinez scored twice to recover a draw against Roma after the Nerazzurri had fallen 2-0 behind at the Olimpico. It was a result that has kept Inter’s opening run intact while underlining how little separation there is among the leading sides.

Lazio have been the most striking presence in the early title picture. Their unbeaten record includes a home draw with Milan and an emphatic away victory over Juventus, where they scored three times. With no European competition on their calendar, Lazio have been able to focus entirely on the league while their rivals have already navigated three rounds of continental fixtures.

A compressed race behind the leaders

Roma and Milan sit four points back, level on 18 after five victories and three draws apiece. Roma’s other stalemates, beyond the match with Inter, came in a goalless game against Como and a 3-3 encounter with Napoli. Milan have also collected three draws, against Sassuolo, Lazio and Juventus.

Como, coached by Cesc Fabregas, remain close enough to keep the leading group under pressure. They are fifth with 17 points, having drawn twice and lost only once, away to sixth-placed Frosinone. Their position adds another layer to a season in which the established order has not yet settled.

The unbeaten quartet has therefore emerged despite a schedule that has already tested most of the contenders across league and European commitments. Lazio are the exception, without continental matches, but Inter, Roma and Milan have still preserved their domestic records. After eight rounds, Serie A has no solitary pace-setter, only four unbeaten clubs shaping the first major chapter of the campaign.
