Joe Burrow Cleared to Start Bengals’ Week 2 Game Against Texans

The Cincinnati Bengals will have Joe Burrow under center for Sunday’s road game against the Houston Texans after the quarterback completed Friday’s practice as a full participant despite back tightness earlier in the week.

Coach Zac Taylor said Burrow is cleared to play in the Week 2 matchup. The Bengals quarterback had been listed as limited on Wednesday and Thursday, but he had consistently indicated that he expected to be available.

Any injury concern involving Burrow draws immediate attention in Cincinnati after he missed nine games during the 2025 season and another seven in 2023. This issue will not keep the three-time Pro Bowler out of the lineup.

Burrow opened the season by completing 25 of 35 passes for 254 yards, one touchdown and one interception in the Bengals’ 33-27 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Cincinnati enters Sunday at 1-0, while Houston is seeking its first win after opening 0-1. Kickoff at NRG Stadium is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET.
