Justin Jefferson Ruled Out for Vikings’ Week 4 Game vs. Dolphins

The Minnesota Vikings will play Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins without wide receiver Justin Jefferson, who has been ruled out with an ankle injury.

Coach Kevin O’Connell announced Friday that Jefferson will not be available for the Week 4 matchup. The two-time All-Pro has led Minnesota’s receiving group through the opening three games.

Quick facts

  • Justin Jefferson is out because of an ankle injury.
  • He has 13 catches for 179 yards and two receiving touchdowns this season.
  • Jordan Addison and T.J. Hockenson are among the leading candidates for larger roles.
  • Free-agent addition Jauan Jennings could see more work in the passing game.
  • Vikings-Dolphins kickoff is scheduled for 4:05 p.m. ET Sunday.

Jefferson enters the weekend as Minnesota’s leader in receptions, receiving yards and touchdown catches. His absence removes the Vikings’ top playmaker from an offense that has struggled to find consistent production under quarterback Kyler Murray.

Addison and Hockenson will be expected to shoulder more of the workload against Miami. Jennings could also be more involved as Minnesota looks for dependable targets and ways to generate yardage through the air.

The Vikings and Dolphins are set to meet Sunday afternoon at 4:05 p.m. ET.
