Bayern Munich let a Champions League lead slip in Norway after Michael Olise’s first career dismissal turned a 3-2 advantage into a difficult closing stretch with 10 men. Herman Haugen’s late equaliser punished the German side, who had appeared well placed to take control after Luis Díaz put them ahead in the 73rd minute.
Olise, usually noted for his calm and detached manner, lost his composure almost immediately after Díaz’s goal. He pulled back Tripic to stop a counter-attack and was rightly booked. As Tripic reacted and confronted the Bayern player, Olise threw the ball into his opponent’s face with the referee watching. The second yellow card followed within seconds, leaving Bayern a man down and handing their Norwegian hosts renewed belief.
The red card was the first of Olise’s senior career and changed the tone of a night in which Bayern had improved after the interval. Instead of protecting their lead, they were forced into survival mode against opponents who had already made the contest uncomfortable. Haugen eventually found the leveller, ensuring Bayern paid for the moment of indiscipline.
Harry Kane did not hide the significance of his teammate’s error after the match. “He will be devastated, but he has to take responsibility,” Kane said. “It was a mistake, these things happen, and he has to learn from it. It is disappointing because we have important matches ahead.”
Kane felt Bayern had produced enough in the second half to win, but stressed that European matches punish lapses quickly. “With the way we played after the break, we should have won,” he added. “But when you make mistakes like that, you get punished.”
