Kolo Muani’s Late Header Saves Juventus in Cagliari Draw

Randal Kolo Muani rescued Juventus late in Sardinia, but the France forward left Cagliari with the feeling that the night could have brought far more. His 81st-minute header earned a 1-1 draw, before two missed close-range chances denied the Bianconeri a turnaround that had looked unlikely for much of Sunday’s match.

Cagliari strike first after Kalulu error

Cagliari had carried their strong form into the three-week international break and returned without losing their edge. Back on home soil, the Sardinian side held Juventus and remained close to the top three.

  • Daniel Maldini opened the scoring in the 20th minute.
  • The goal followed Pierre Kalulu losing possession, with the ball then breaking loose in a crowded sequence.
  • Juventus took control of possession after falling behind but initially struggled to turn that dominance into clear openings.

The result leaves Juventus sixth, five points behind leaders Inter Milan, while Cagliari remain just outside the podium places.

Zhegrova sparks Juventus after the interval

Luciano Spalletti turned to Edon Zhegrova at half-time, replacing Francisco Conceição, and the Kosovo international brought urgency to Juventus’ attack. Fresh from scoring twice against Sassuolo, Zhegrova repeatedly tested Cagliari’s defence and attempted several shots, though he could not find the breakthrough himself.

Juventus were also kept in the contest by Guglielmo Vicario, whose outstanding double save in the 58th minute prevented Cagliari from extending their lead.

Kolo Muani equalises, then misses the winner

The visitors finally found their response nine minutes from time. Kerim Alajbegovic, another substitute, delivered the cross and Kolo Muani met it with a header to level the match.

The French striker then had two major opportunities from close range in the closing moments, but could not convert either one. Cagliari held on for the point as Juventus’ recovery stopped short of a victory.
