Bayern Munich return to Bundesliga action at Augsburg on Saturday, with January’s defeat there still their only league loss across 47 matches.
- Bayern are second in the table.
- Han-Noah Massengo scored the winner when Augsburg last beat Bayern in the league.
- Jamal Musiala is Bayern’s only current absentee and is not expected to be out for much longer.
- Ismael Saibari could feature in his preferred role behind the striker.
- Alphonso Davies and Luis Díaz return rested after their breaks.
- Harry Kane and Michael Olise have trained with the group again since Thursday.
- Anton Kade may return for Augsburg.
What it changes in the Bundesliga week
Vincent Kompany has no intention of rotating merely for the sake of it after a three-week league pause. “There is no load management if the players are not tired,” he said. “First they have to become tired.”
Bayern’s schedule now accelerates, with Champions League matches against Arsenal and cup ties against Magdeburg ahead. Kompany believes his squad is built for that run and said he would rather play every three days than sit through another extended break.
Augsburg remain a difficult local opponent. Kompany called it a derby and noted their compact defending, threat in possession and understated individual quality. Bayern signed off before the break with a 7-0 win over Union Berlin, and Kompany said the level shown in training gives his side a chance on Saturday.
