In Madrid, where Kylian Mbappé has continued to shape his first seasons in white, the French forward has received a continental accolade before European football’s most closely watched individual ceremony. Onze Mondial has named the Real Madrid striker its 2026 Onze d’Or winner, a prize decided by the magazine’s readers and awarded for his performances across the 2025/26 campaign.
Mbappé collected 48.2% of the public vote, comfortably ahead of Paris Saint-Germain midfielder João Neves, who received 11.9%, and PSG winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia on 10.8%. It is the first time the France captain has won the honour.
A French award with a different identity
The Onze d’Or is organised by Onze Mondial and is separate from the Ballon d’Or, which is presented by France Football. The latter ceremony is scheduled for next week, with Mbappé among the prominent contenders for football’s most celebrated individual award.
The result also extends a recent French sequence in the Onze Mondial prize. Mbappé takes over from his compatriot Ousmane Dembélé, the 2025 recipient. A year earlier, Real Madrid’s Vinícius Júnior won the Onze d’Or, although he finished second in the Ballon d’Or vote behind Spain midfielder Rodri.
For Mbappé, the reader-backed recognition arrives as another marker of a season that has kept him at the centre of the European game, from the Spanish capital to the wider debate over who will leave next week’s ceremony with the Ballon d’Or.
