Madrid’s Metropolitano provided the defining stop on a busy seventh round, where Atlético Madrid took the derby 2-1 against Real Madrid and Barcelona continued their perfect start in Seville. The capital contest turned when Huijsen was sent off after conceding a penalty on Giuliano, but Real Madrid’s difficulties had been apparent before they were reduced to 10 men.
Atlético made the most of the numerical advantage to claim the local victory, while Real Madrid were left to reflect on an underwhelming display both with a full side and after the dismissal. Across the city, the result added another strong note to a weekend in which the leading sides were spread from Catalonia to Andalusia.
Barcelona travelled south on Saturday and won 3-1 at Sevilla’s Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán. The Catalan club have won each of their league matches so far and sit first in the table. Earlier that day, Osasuna drew 1-1 with Rayo Vallecano, Athletic Club and Alavés finished goalless, and Celta Vigo swept Racing aside 5-0.
The round had opened in Barcelona on Friday, with Elche leaving Espanyol’s ground as 3-1 winners. Sunday began with Getafe’s 1-0 home success over Málaga before attention moved to the Metropolitano for the derby.

The remaining Sunday programme features Deportivo against Betis at 18:30, Villarreal versus Levante at 18:30, and Valencia hosting Real Sociedad at 21:00. There is no Monday fixture because of the international break.
