La Roche-sur-Yon left Thionville with more than three points on Saturday night. A late comeback, a red card and a decisive goal missed by the television feed carried the newly promoted side to a 2-1 win and top spot in Ligue 3 after eight rounds.
It was a meeting between two promoted teams with ambitions near the summit, but La Roche had to survive a difficult spell before overturning the match in the closing minutes. Thionville, coached by Julien François and particularly dangerous from dead-ball situations, went ahead in the 61st minute when Kylian Tubio finished a free-kick routine.
Frédéric Reculeau’s visitors found their response at the end. Bourama Diarra was sent off after conceding a penalty, converted in the 89th minute by La Roche’s No. 10. Alexis Araujo then struck in the 92nd minute to secure the turnaround, although the broadcaster had lost its signal and could not show the winning goal. Momar Ndiaye’s double was central to La Roche’s latest success as the club continued its remarkable start following promotion.
Bastia’s perfect away record ends
Bastia’s run of away victories came to an end in a 1-0 defeat, despite an extraordinary intervention from goalkeeper Théo De Percin. In the 37th minute, De Percin stopped Enzo Dodé-Zéhé’s penalty before reacting quickly enough to deny the rebound as well.
The reprieve lasted less than a minute. Mattheo Guendez beat the Corsican goalkeeper with a left-footed effort from around 20 metres, scoring the only goal of the game.
Elsewhere, Paris 13 Atlético claimed the first victory in the club’s history at Stade Charléty.
Volleys light up QRM-Amiens draw
Quevilly-Rouen Métropole and Amiens shared a 1-1 draw in a contest defined by two fine strikes. Youssef Gazzaoui broke Amiens’ defensive resistance inside the opening 15 minutes with a superb volley.
Amiens had gone four matches without conceding before Gazzaoui’s finish, but they answered in the 57th minute when Christ Mbondi produced a volley of similar quality to earn a point.
Villefranche remain bottom despite Diakité response
Villefranche remain at the foot of the table after a 2-1 defeat to Versailles, their sixth loss in eight league matches. The club are still looking for a new head coach after Fabien Pujo was sidelined, with 26-year-old Mathias Laforest currently taking charge on an interim basis.
Adama Diakité had quickly cancelled out Versailles’ opening goal with an outstanding free kick in the 17th minute, offering hope of a revival. Amir Etien, however, scored twice to give Versailles the win and lift them into fifth place.
Linyon rescues Valenciennes, Bouaziz lifts Aubagne
Valenciennes climbed away from immediate danger with a late 2-1 home victory over Le Puy. Dayann Linyon, 19, had been on the pitch for only five minutes when he scored in the 88th minute to settle the match.
Aubagne are still in the relegation places, but their 2-1 win away at Fleury gave them a vital boost. Walid Bouaziz scored both goals for the Bouches-du-Rhône side.
