In Lille’s sharp early-season attack, Ethan Mbappé has earned a new stage. The 19-year-old winger has received his first call-up to France’s Under-21 squad after an impressive start to the campaign.

France Under-21 coach Gérald Baticle included Mbappé in his latest selection on Friday, handing the Lille player a first invitation at this level.
Mbappé has been used on the right side of Lille’s forward line this season and his performances have brought a rapid international reward. He is one of five newcomers in Baticle’s group.
The other first-time selections are Aubagne goalkeeper Issiaka Touré, who plays in Ligue 3, Sassuolo midfielder Darryl Bakola, Newcastle midfielder Aladji Bamba and Leipzig forward Tidiam Gomis.
The next appointment in France
France Under-21s will begin their upcoming run away to Iceland on 25 September before travelling to Estonia four days later.
They will then play two home matches in Orléans, facing Luxembourg on 3 October and Switzerland on 6 October. Mbappé will hope his first involvement with the youth national side becomes the next step in a promising season with Lille.
