In Elda, an Alicante city with more than a century of football memory, CD Eldense has opened the door to a new ownership era. The club announced on Thursday that Lionel Messi is set to acquire the institution, subject to the required approval from Spain’s Higher Sports Council.
The Argentine, one of football’s defining figures, would take control of Eldense as the club pursues a long-term project aimed at strengthening its sporting, institutional and social foundations.
