Monterrey’s Rayadas left another demanding night with three points, holding off Cruz Azul 1-0 to reinforce their place at the summit of Liga MX Femenil’s Apertura. Spain international Lucía García supplied the decisive moment in the eighth minute, while goalkeeper Alejandría Godínez ensured the narrow margin survived.
García, formerly of Athletic Club, struck her eighth goal of the campaign after being set up by American forward Aerial Chavarin. The early finish gave Monterrey control of the scoreline, though not of every phase of a contest in which Cruz Azul continued to push for an equaliser.
