Under the lights at the Parc des Princes, Paris Saint-Germain finally gave their home supporters a league win to take into the European week, beating Le Mans 3-1 on Saturday.
The Ligue 1 news
Lucas Digne completed the full match as PSG secured their first home victory of the Ligue 1 season. The defender pointed out that it was only Paris’s second league fixture at the Parc, but said winning there remained especially important for the squad.
“We showed the strength of the group and got the result we needed,” Digne said. “It is always important to win at the Parc, and it feels good to play in front of our supporters.”
The match also brought a first PSG goal for Maghnes Akliouche. Digne praised the attacker’s impact after his arrival, saying a forward naturally wants to score quickly for a new club.
“He deserves it,” Digne said. “He works very hard, and I am very happy for him. I think the whole group is as well.”
Digne had not been selected for a previous matchday squad, but said he had never lost faith in Luis Enrique’s decisions. He explained that the coach had outlined his approach from the beginning, and that starting and winning against Le Mans was nevertheless a welcome moment.
After the international break, Digne said he had been able to spend more time resting with his family and children while continuing his individual work.
PSG supporters displayed a banner backing school students during Saturday’s game. Digne said he had not seen it himself, while acknowledging the wider news around the demonstrations. He described the matter as political and said he hoped for a rapid resolution.
Manchester City await in Europe
PSG return to action on Wednesday at 21:00, when they face Manchester City in the league phase of the Champions League.
City are facing 115 allegations of breaches of financial regulations, but Digne does not expect the case to affect the English side’s players on the pitch.
“Those matters do not directly concern the players,” he said. “They will be focused on their work. We are concentrating on ourselves and on the different phases of our game.”
