Roma’s response to their European disappointment is expected to begin with a change on the right flank when Genoa, coached by Daniele De Rossi, arrive on Sunday.
After spending the last three matches against Inter, Como and Real Madrid on the bench, Lulli is in line for a return to the starting side. Gian Piero Gasperini is considering him for the right-sided role, with Molina set to make way.
The decision would also alter the balance of Roma’s wide positions. Wesley, one of the stronger performers in the match against Real Madrid, is expected to move back to the left, leaving Lulli with an opportunity to reassert himself on the opposite side.
For Roma, the Genoa meeting is not simply about selection. The side must quickly turn the page after the late setback in Europe, and Gasperini is looking for a collective reaction rather than one carried by a single player. Fresh legs, intensity and a sharper sense of purpose will be required against De Rossi’s team.
Lulli’s likely recall gives him a timely chance to contribute to that response. After three games watching from the bench, the right wing may become the place where Roma begin to restore their rhythm in the league.
