Geneva hosts OL Lyonnes’ first European night of the new campaign on Wednesday, with Jonatan Giraldez choosing to rotate his side for the 18:45 kick-off against Servette.
Grohs handed her Lyon debut chance
Mala Grohs will start in goal in place of Christiane Endler as Lyon begin their Women’s Champions League campaign away from home.
- Grohs joined OL Lyonnes from Bayern Munich during the summer.
- Endler is left out of the starting XI for the match in Geneva.
- Wendie Renard has returned to the squad, but will not begin in central defence.
- Tarciane and Ingrid Engen have been selected as Lyon’s centre-back pairing.
Katoto and Hegerberg united up front
Giraldez has also opted for a high-profile attacking partnership, pairing Marie-Antoinette Katoto with Ada Hegerberg from the start against the Swiss side.
The selection gives Lyon two established finishers for their opening match in the revamped Champions League, as the French club look to make an immediate statement on the road.
Lyon follow PSG into Europe
OL Lyonnes enter the competition a day after Paris Saint-Germain drew 1-1 with Real Madrid. Lyon’s opening assignment comes at Servette’s home ground in Geneva, where the new European season begins under the lights on Wednesday evening.
